How many hands can one player miss during the tournament?
For Main Event tournaments, and any bigger tournament events, we will follow Poker Tournament Rules as listed by the Tournament Directors Association as follow:
If a player is absent at the start of an event, at some point an effort will be made to locate and contact the player.
If the player requests the chips be left in place until arrival, the request will be honored.
If the player is unable to be contacted, the chips may be removed from play at the discretion of the Tournament Director anytime after second blind level or color up.

At nightly sit'n'go tournaments, a player can miss as many hands as they wish, but it is not recomended. being that other players that would still be in the tournament. If player that has been away from the table for some time, and does not return to join the game. before they become the 5th player on the table, thier chips will be considered dead, and they will be removed from the table as the 'bubble' player.
